Adelaide’s Lesbian and Gay Cultural Festival – Feast – has revealed its theme for its 10th anniversary festival alongside new dates for the November celebration.
‘Faerie Tales’ is the Feast 2006 theme, providing a platform for the sharing of old and new stories, myths and legends in our queer community.
Feast 2006 will reclaim Faeries - once used as a derogatory term for gay men – and encourages artists, performers and audiences to use Faerie Tales to discover our identity and calling, exploring the roots of our sense of gender and sexuality.
Feast’s Artistic Director Fanny Jacobson says: “This year Feast invites you to delve into the realms of the Faërie, to examine the stories, myths and legends of the queer community - where anything is possible and we can conjure a magical world where, for just a little while, there is no discrimination, bigotry and hatred and we all get to go to the ball!”
